My Boating

I have a small fleet of watercraft.

First, there's the canoe - named Kanutu. She's my second canoe, but the first one is kong gone. I have a 3.5 HP Nissan "kicker" for the back end of Kanutu when I want it. Or I can use the electric trolling motor when I want to be quietly lazy. And of course, I can paddle it too, when I want a REAL canoe experience. It's my most versatile boat.

The Sea Slug2 is my newest boat. Just finished it in July 2020.

V-14, my V-hull, gets a lot of use camping on the water (well, by the water anyway). It's a 14 foot modified V-hull. I use this for long boat camping trips, or when someone else goes along, since it carries a lot. I also use this boat when Patty camps with me since it's larger and more stable than the others. It putts along okay on the 3.5 HP motor also.

Then there's my sailboat, the PJ 42, named after my wife, and the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. It's a Luger Seabreaze, a 16 foot sloop with a swing keel so it can be easily trailered. Here it is on Lake Hatchineha, one of my favorate lakes, anchored and with a sunshade in the form of a boom tent.

And here it is on it's trailer. It's just small enough for my Ford Ranger to tote around, though I do have to be creative with launcing/retrieving it. (I park the truck at the top of the ramp, and winch the trailer down into the water.)

Some of my "retired" boats include:

The Sea Slug - an 8 X 12 foot camping barge. (I used my pram to propell it.)

The Sloop John B 42 - my 16 foot sloop with oversized cabin. I had a lot of nice overnight stays onboard, as well as a few week-long ventures. One of my favorite trips was an offshore run of 25 miles between Bayport and Anclote key (and back).
